Album Review (SJD): Everfound

Everfound Banner

Everfound is a band of four brothers, born in Russia, who immigrated to Denver, Colorado when they were just young children. These brothers have a love for God that cannot be contained. With a family history of being oppressed for their beliefs, Nikita, Ruslan, Yan and Illarion are driven by their true life stories to be bold about Who they believe in. Releasing their self-titled album July 16th 2013, the brothers of Everfound are carrying the “Torch,” continuing to prove to the world that they are not afraid to be who God made them to be.

I started listening to this album at the beginning of the week of Vacation Bible School (VBS) at my church. This year, the curriculum for the kids is focused on how to stand strong for God. Everfound’s debut album, under Word Entertainment, is full of inspiration, which can help build on the foundation of what the children are learning this week at VBS Kingdom Rock 2013. Each song off Everfound’s album represents their position as children of the Most High God. The band’s story is a living testimony of a family that continues to stand strong for God regardless of the oppression of the past and some criticism from today’s traditionalists.

The song “Go” corresponds to being tired of sitting in the background, willing to leave your past behind, and being ready to make a difference. Leaving your life in God’s hands may be hard at first, but in the end you will see how much stronger you will be with God at your side. “If God is for us, who can be against us.” Romans 8:31

“Unless” talks about how until we let a miracle (God) take control of our lives, we would be pretty much nothing. As a Believer, we are more than who we think we are. We are now more than conquerors through Him who loved us. There is a reason that we are alive, and that reason is to speak the truth to this barren world.

One of the greatest benefits about being a child of God is that we are, “Never Beyond Repair.” His Grace will meet you anywhere … anytime. There is nothing to big or small that He can’t fix. You are never to far away that He can’t reach you. His Love will be there.

Our God is the “God Of The Impossible.” He dares you to dream of incredible things. All He asks is that you trust Him when things seem to be impossible. When He sends you out, don’t hold back, just go do what you have been called to do and stand strong. “… with God, all things are possible. Mark 10:27 “… all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23

If you haven’t read up on Everfound’s background, they left their friends and family in Russia to come to America. “Somewhere New” is a song that talks about their journey, following the command of God’s heart. They put complete trust in God when they ventured to the USA. This is yet another example of how they stood strong.

Many of us have cried out to God when all things have seemed to go wrong. We’ve wondered if He was even there … if He cares. The track “Hurt” tells it all through the eyes of our Saviour. Jesus has been through everything we have been through. “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Heb. 2:18 He is never far from us and He knows exactly how you feel. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” Heb. 4:15

“Lubit Lish Hristos Bezmerna” is an interlude that leads to the song “Torch.” Everfound sings about how we are a spark that is made to shine. I also believe that the line, “we are carrying the torch,” represents the brothers living out the legacy of their ancestors and taking it further then they could ever imagine.

“Take This City” is an epic battle song that is full of encouragement as we stand for Christ. For those of us who are willing to lay down our lives for the Gospel, there is no such thing as defeat with Love leading the way.

“What Love Means” is all about … well, what Love means. For God so loved the world that He gave … Love is about giving. Jesus gave it all for us, submitting to the will of the Father. When He went to the cross He had us in mind. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Heb. 12:2

We give Everfound 5 out of 5 stars for their newest release. They not only are a band that plays Christian music, but a band of brothers that live out their lives for Christ. They are on a mission to use the freedom they have been given to reach the masses, spreading God’s Love through each message in their music. I would venture to say that their ancestors should be very proud of them. This is a #SJDMustOwn … so what are you waiting for? Go check them out!
