We last heard from Chris Tomlin in 2011, celebrating his then-thirteen-years of worship with his first greatest hits release, How Great Is Our God. The title itself is a testament in itself to the Lord’s faithfulness in not only Tomlin’s life, but in the lives of every fan, critic, and fellow musician his music has reached. Unforgettable anthems such as “Indescribable”, “Holy Is The Lord”, and “Our God” have echoed through the halls of auditoriums and small-town churches alike, and have earned Chris his share of awards and nominations.
But after so much success over the course of an entire decade, the infamous question poses itself:
“Where do you go from here?”
“I’ve never worked so hard on a record in my life,” said the singer in a November interview, speaking of his upcoming studio record Burning Lights, to be released on January 8th.
“To be this far along and to feel this passionate about the music is pretty exciting…I’m not just trying to find pop songs, I’m trying to find songs that can make their way into the fabric of the church”.
To give fans a taste of the highly-anticipated new album, the third track “Whom Shall I Fear (God Of Angel Armies)” is available for iTunes download as the lead single off Burning Lights.
