Looking Behind The Song (Featuring NRE): Blessed Are The Ones – Audrey Assad

Happy Valentine’s Day

Audrey Assad has a special way about her. Her melodies, laced with simple elevator music-esque styles, are oozing with “cool.” This song has that same cool factor, with an awesome meaning behind it. As today is Valentine’s Day, “Blessed Are The Ones” is all about marriage. Marriage is all about a commitment to a sacred covenant. Joy comes to the ones who pursue that covenant, even in the hard times.

In our society, there are many who find ways out of this sacred unity that God has placed between a man and a woman. This song brings us back to the beautiful commitment of marriage. God issued marriage as a sort of parallel to our relationship with Him. He is constantly searching for us, and His love never dies out. When we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. “Blessed Are The Ones” brings us back to the beauty that grows from cultivation and a continued growth in marriage that goes way beyond giving flowers on one day in the year.

Genesis 2:24 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”-(ESV)

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”-(NKJV)
