Looking Behind The Song(Featured by DJC): We Are – Kari Jobe

She’s back! Former Dove award winning worship artist Kari Jobe has just released her second worship album entitled “Where I Find You.” “Where I Find You” is a clarion call for listeners to experience His presence to the fullest. Here is the single off of this record is entitled “We Are.”

Kari describes the song as, “A song of commission for us as believers to be reminded of what we’ve been called to, and that is to impact people’s lives in everything we do.”

This song pronounces who God’s people are. It simply, but profoundly, defines the devoted follower of Jesus Christ. These lyrics bring excitement to the person who follows Christ. Kari declares that we, as a devoted follower of Christ, can spread the good news about our Lord to everyone that we come into contact with.

So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine

Jesus said it in Matthew 5:14-16:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

SJD Adds:

It is time for us to come out of the dark. It is time for us to stop sleeping. We need to get up and let the light that was given to us shine brightly through our everyday lives. Jesus’ light set us free. He gave us His light (freedom) and we became lights in this world. We are called to be like Him and be the lights for this world, illuminating all the truth of what Jesus came on this earth to die for.

John 8:12 “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
