A band that seemed to be forgotten, after they disbanded back in 2003, has been resurrected in the Ska Christian Scene! Five Iron Frenzy’s members have renewed their relationships with Christ and are back returning with this song, “It Was A Dark And Stormy Night.“
The lyrics in this song take us on a trip to where the band has been and where we might have been ourselves. They are saying that we have been through the storms that life throws at us. We have dealt with our past and are looking to keep the promises we have made. The fog has been lifted and the light is shining through. “Hope has not forgotten me.”
The word, “Hope” depicts God. God has not forgotten us. When we deal with our past and surrender our lives back up to Christ, the fog is lifted. We awake from the dreary dream we once had, letting the light of God shine through us. Hope has brought us back to life.
The Return Of Ska – Five Iron Frenzy
An ARG Segment:
“Have you ever been to a concert, and you knew when you saw a devoted fan? You know, the ones with the band shirt, band bracelet, and who scream when the lead singer breathes? Well, yeah, we’ve all encountered those fans, but wait until you hear the story of Five Iron Frenzy when they announced they would be returning for a new record in 2013. Oh did we say that out loud?
The boys and girl of Five Iron Frenzy, along with The O.C. Supertones and The Insyderz, were the leaders of the big Christian Ska wave of the late 90s. Now, with all three of those bands having resurfaced (FIF being the most recent), there just might be another one around the corner.
Yes, these goofy gurus of ska have returned from the grave, after a long 10-year absence from the stage. The announcement, however, came with a request from the band, a Kickstarter campaign for donations to raise money for a new album. The goal was to reach $30,000 in 60 days. The objective was accomplished in 55 minutes, and has currently has been exceeded by over $100,000! Talk about some hardcore fans. Not only is a new album in the works, but several gig dates are already being confirmed as we speak and/or type, rather.”
Thanks ARG for joining us.
